Hi! Thank you 😀 (Although ah, old story) Oh yeah, if you know me, my life isn’t all that great, and I cope with humour lol. I was very careful with how I treated the writing of When Red Meets Violet – the humor was just there to make Gillian seem more real. Also, on the romance: I didn’t want to fall into the “if I have a man, then I’ll be cured” trope. Matt was Gillian’s bestfriend. He didn’t save her; he acted as her support and helped her confront her past.
On the sequel, Green Skies Ahead isn’t really a prequel to When Red Meets Violet. It focuses on Isabel (fem! Spain) and her eating disorder (influenced by my own experience). The tie to When Red Meets Violet is that you get to see small glimpses of Gillian one year before her assault, as well as the early stages of Rodereich’s (2p! Austria) and Elizabeta’s unhealthy relationship. Gillian’s much more willing to use words such as “slut” or “whore” without really knowing the meaning of them.
You’ll see that I use the nyos to write about primarily gender-specific experiences.
