Thanks! That’s a complicated question xD. Basically, I knew about it in 2012 because I had two friends who fought over USUK vs FrUk. I was more interested in the idea of countries being personified, but stayed far away from the fanfiction/fandom side of things because of how angry they got with each other. I hovered until 2014, and then really became active in the fandom in 2015 🙂
