He’s a cutie, and I love him.

One is just a structure Himaruya uses. I find it funny when
he does that little side bubble thing, where the characters give snarky
comments with a miniature version of their faces.

I also think the political and economic jokes he makes about
the EU are quite funny. Obviously, not the situation itself but dark humour never
hurts!
Ex: Spain and Greece attaching themselves to Germany.

I have literally hundreds of Hetalia AUs that I would love to share and discuss with people but like… the Hetalia fandom has gotten really weird about interacting with people outside of a set number of blogs it feels like?
I feel like new Hetalia ask blogs these days go nowhere without promos from bigger blogs. Like you either start out with god tier art or have to be promo’d by someone with god tier art to get a decent following and have a chance at some good interaction with fans. But like… it’s not just ask blogs either. It’s the same for any type of Hetalia content blog.
I know I made a post about the Devalier stuff that went down a few weeks ago, and this is sort of like an add on to that. It’s not just Devalier. It’s any type of new content creators. It’s Hetalia headcanon or moodboard blogs dying out because nobody sends requests. It’s fic blogs dying out because aside from a few likes nobody interacts with their stuff. It’s art blogs giving up because they never hear any feedback or appreciation on their stuff. Even just casual Hetalia blogs that sometimes post Hetalia and sometimes post other stuff find it hard to stay in the fandom because their followers from more active fandoms interact with them more than the Hetalia ones do.
People on here wonder why so many Hetalia blogs turn to Voltron or K-Pop or literally anything else… this is why. Because users here have gotten so used to getting their Hetalia fix from a set amount of people that they don’t care about finding new ways to interact with the fandom. If those few set people happen to promo a blog here and there? Cool! They’ll check them out, but otherwise they don’t bother.
I’m begging you people to check out the recent posts on the Hetalia tags every once and a while. Support newer content creators, interact with smaller content creators, don’t just follow the same handful of blogs for months without any change.
Interact with people! I’m always up for asks or even just casual discussion, and I know a lot of other smaller blogs would absolutely love the interaction as well. So go! Check out those recent tags! Send some asks! Toss out a few reblogs! That’s what tumblr is all about!
^Signal boost!
As someone who has an ask blog and art blog myself, I find this very important! Please, go interact with new blogs, let them thrive like all the old ones! Go search up hetalia in the tags! Look for new art! Anything! People actually take time to make blogs only to have no one notice it, and that feeling really sucks, and not everyone is willing or “brave” enough to ask more popular blogs for support, so please, please take this advice.
Well, other than the suggestions and nyotalia ones (which are also suggestions), the original official names that Himaruya gave were deleted. Technically, they’re not canon and weren’t even all that accurate.
This is only my opinion. No one’s forced to agree with it.
As for their use?
I don’t have a definitive stance. I think that if you’re doing a canon nation AU, then their names should be more culturally accurate. Human AUs, on the other hand, I’m more lenient with if they’re anglicized. It’s different when they’re representing a country.
Up to now, I haven’t been the best with the names in fics, but I do realize that there’s a juggling act between the names that fanon recognize and making the name easy for the audience to read vs. tending to cultural accuracy. It’s a tricky endeavor to navigate, but I am leaning more toward the latter.
As someone with a name that’s already been 2/3 anglicized, I personally don’t get offended when people anglicize it further. Maybe it’s because I’ve grown up in such a diverse city that it doesn’t really bother me lol. You get used to people not being able to pronounce your name and making their own variation of it. There’s usually a 50/50 chance whether it irritates the person; I’m not one of them.
Ex: My middle name in Hebrew is Rachael, but I always get Rachel. Ariella, my first name, becomes Ariana (somehow, people clearly can’t read lmao) or Ariel (close enough).
My Greek friend, who already shortened his birth name to Takis to make it easier for people to refer to him, is still called things like Travis or Trevor. We both laugh it off.
I’ve mentioned this before [x], but the anglicization and changing of names isn’t exclusive to English. It’s a practice done in all languages to make it easier for the native audience to recognize. Whether people agree with it will always be a heated matter.
Good for them! I’ve looked into it just now and some people are speculating that it might be a glitch. I got the same thing: Gain one follower lose ten lmao. Oh tumblr, you never cease to amaze me
I wouldn’t worry. I think tumblr is deleting all fake accounts and porn bots. I lost followers in rapid succession too but it’s stopped now!
Edit:: Actually nvm lol it’s still happening. There are a lot of them on this site lmao so good riddance.
😭
😭
😭

This genuinely inspired me. I’m so glad that my works have been able to move you to create. It’s both a blessing and a privilege that I don’t take lightly.
I’ve still been struggling a lot in my personal life and can’t thank you enough for your support. I’ve been so busy and muddled lately with responsibilities that I haven’t had a full day to just… write.
My writer self is very nitpicky and doesn’t like writing sections of chapters at a time; it’s all or nothing.
Thankfully, I have this blog that still allows me to write shorter content and engage with incredible people like you. Again, thank you so much!

Original post that inspired this [x].

The following post will examine hints of romance and/or useful
tools that can be incorporated when characterizing this pairing.
Briefly, it’s important to situate the course of their
relationship.
When they were younger, Hungary used to beat up Austria. Remember
that Austria was originally born as a fighting nation and only became an
indoors person after he resorted to marriage to solve his problems [x].

This power-balance later shifts when Austria acts as the
head of the Holy Roman Empire household and Hungary becomes his subordinate [x].

Although it’s not depicted, the two are later married under
their dual monarchy. Hungary’s cited birthday (June 8th) is also
their wedding day and corresponds with the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 [x].
It would be inaccurate to say that Hungary passively
accepted being under Austria’s rule with open arms, not to mention that it
would disparage the strength of her character. It’s a lot more “complicated”
than that.
Hungary is described as having “defiant feelings” over having been under Austria’s rule. In tandem, she’s also said to have “complicated,
yearning-like feelings towards him,” [x].
How I’ve interpreted this before is that the nations have
two selves: the personal and the political. While Hungary may have resented
Austrian power, she didn’t represent Austria the person despite the fact that
he was the embodied personification of the nation in question. Hungary was
ultimately caught between a rut of representing her nation’s best interest and
her own experience as a person in her own right.
Still, even when she was a servant to him, Hungary still
considered those in the HRE household to be her family. Regardless of the difficult
nuances of their political statuses, there were deep personal bonds present that
shouldn’t be overlooked.

Likewise, we also know that Hungary developed a complex over
settling down and feared that her battle skills would get rusty [x].

This is far from the case.
Ex: Hungary was keen to fight for Austria during the War of Austrian Succession [x].

As mentioned, the series doesn’t cover the course of their marriage
and instead depicts the aftermath. On the other hand, several hints of romance
are enough to suggest the likely possibility that the two did and still do hold romantic feelings for each other.
Ex: Hungary is too shy to visit the then annexed Austria and
instead asks Germany how he’s doing. Her reason for not wanting to see Austria
is that the state of her economy had caused her to develop a dishevelled appearance.

Either way, it seems that she still cared about how she
looked around Austria. Notice how she blushes too.
Ex: In the same time period, Hungary secretly cleans up
Austria’s room without him noticing.

The most well-known example is during Buon San Valentino.
Ex: Hungary receives a Valentine’s Day gift from an
anonymous source. The deliverer gives a description that matches Austria’s [x].
However, it’s not so anonymous to the reader given that the
strip’s title is “Hides his name but not his Mariazell.”

The two are also very close in modern times.
Ex: They spend the Christmas 2007 event together as a
couple. Their relationship is enough to make Prussia—who was already
feeling lonely—cry [x].

Ex: They coordinate their Halloween Costumes together—
Hungary dresses up as Austria’s prince in the Halloween 2011 event [x].

In sum, while historical tensions may have caused reciprocal
tensions in their political relationship, this doesn’t necessarily mean that
the same tensions were reflected as strongly in their personal relationship.
The two genuinely do care for each other and haven’t seemed to have abandoned
their husband and wife roles; this is on top of the suggested romance between them.

What she’s thinking: This is so much fun~!
What he’s thinking: I’d rather be at home in my underwear.
