gurl can we have some life updates here? You seem really busy

Ahhh. I usually leave personal questions until nighttime, since it’s not the main focus of the blog but all right 🙂

Currently wrapping up the last in-class semester of my undergrad in Criminology (I’ll be in a student placement for my final semester before graduation), I’m in the process of applying for grad school, it looks like I’m entering my first ever real relationship, and I’m working on a novel on the side lol.

I’m also violently ill with the flu right now, so I’ll really try to pump out some longer updates once I get better 😀

I have literally hundreds of Hetalia AUs that I would love to share and discuss with people but like… the Hetalia fandom has gotten really weird about interacting with people outside of a set number of blogs it feels like?

I feel like new Hetalia ask blogs these days go nowhere without promos from bigger blogs. Like you either start out with god tier art or have to be promo’d by someone with god tier art to get a decent following and have a chance at some good interaction with fans. But like… it’s not just ask blogs either. It’s the same for any type of Hetalia content blog.

I know I made a post about the Devalier stuff that went down a few weeks ago, and this is sort of like an add on to that. It’s not just Devalier. It’s any type of new content creators. It’s Hetalia headcanon or moodboard blogs dying out because nobody sends requests. It’s fic blogs dying out because aside from a few likes nobody interacts with their stuff. It’s art blogs giving up because they never hear any feedback or appreciation on their stuff. Even just casual Hetalia blogs that sometimes post Hetalia and sometimes post other stuff find it hard to stay in the fandom because their followers from more active fandoms interact with them more than the Hetalia ones do.

People on here wonder why so many Hetalia blogs turn to Voltron or K-Pop or literally anything else… this is why. Because users here have gotten so used to getting their Hetalia fix from a set amount of people that they don’t care about finding new ways to interact with the fandom. If those few set people happen to promo a blog here and there? Cool! They’ll check them out, but otherwise they don’t bother.

I’m begging you people to check out the recent posts on the Hetalia tags every once and a while. Support newer content creators, interact with smaller content creators, don’t just follow the same handful of blogs for months without any change.

Interact with people! I’m always up for asks or even just casual discussion, and I know a lot of other smaller blogs would absolutely love the interaction as well. So go! Check out those recent tags! Send some asks! Toss out a few reblogs! That’s what tumblr is all about!

^Signal boost!

As someone who has an ask blog and art blog myself, I find this very important! Please, go interact with new blogs, let them thrive like all the old ones! Go search up hetalia in the tags! Look for new art! Anything! People actually take time to make blogs only to have no one notice it, and that feeling really sucks, and not everyone is willing or “brave” enough to ask more popular blogs for support, so please, please take this advice.

So I just saw some of the tags in your posts and you mentioned being a criminology student?? :) I didn’t know that was your field of study, but I think it’s so cool! I studied criminology in college and I just graduated last year, so I wanted to stop by and wish you good luck with your studies.

:DDDD !!!!

Yes, I’m in Criminology! I’m in my fourth year and graduate in April 🙂 Thank you so much! I also find it pretty neat that I found another crim student here. All the best!

Anon 1: TRUST me, I know. I was just using a few examples. I can’t count how many times I’ve read and re-read certain strips to compile evidence for posts that just so happen to include fanservice. It’s too much at times lol.

@1113023571 Thank you, I really appreciate you telling me this 🙂

@justanotheraccountpassingby Yeah, it’s pretty bad! I didn’t always have AC, only now that I’m living with my Dad who has two dogs. It’s kinda necessary since one has really thick fur. Wow, that’s really hot to only have a fan. I just used to sleep in the basement 😉

Do you ever recieve critism for using Freud’s theories? Because I am and I’m stressed.

Nope. I usually state in
my posts that I don’t necessarily believe in all aspects of his theories. It’s
the fact that concepts from his theories (e.g. erogenous zones) are used in the
manga that make them relevant to what I do. I’m just unpacking clever references that Himaruya has incorporated in the manga.

It’s mostly the Germanic nations
that Freud’s theories are seen in; Germany and Austria are so obviously
Anal-retentive personality types. It’s crazy. Austria is literally described as
a stingy perfectionist…I mean! Austrians are also stereotyped for Freud, so it’s a pretty essential part of his personality.

Not to mention that
there are plenty of feminist neo-Freudians out there that have tweaked and
changed Freud’s theories – given that they were originally done from a male
perspective observing a patriarchal society. Psychodynamics today, as I’m sure you already know, is not all male-centered, contrary to popular belief.

Point is, you can still appreciate the core of a theory while also recognizing how outdated it is. I wouldn’t stress too much, although I understand why you would feel that way given how watered down people’s conceptions of his theories are.

Anon 1: I haven’t had any direct drama with other mods, but I have had unpleasant interactions with some. I can’t be bothered to deal with people with egos as large as theirs lmao. I just stay away.

Anon 2: You’re very welcome!

Anon 3: Thank you! Although, I feel awful that I haven’t had time to respond to more asks, including personal and opinion-related ones. I’ll get to them soon, though. As always, I appreciate everyone’s patience very dearly ^^

I just saw someone call Hetalia “what, the nazi anime?” and I know well that’s not true, but I totally deflated. Always makes me too scared to post… I know, I’m sensitive. Re-reading through this well-reasoned, thoughtful, blog made me feel a little better though! So, thank you, for what you do. No worries if you can’t respond, but do you ever get any hate or reprimanding here? How do you deal?

How I look at it is that
it’s not my problem if people make blind judgments about the anime/manga
without fact-checking. What matters is that YOU and others in the fandom know
that Hetalia does anything but promote nazism, fascism, and political
corruption.

I’ve gotten a bit of
hate, but you’d be surprised by how much of it was fixed once I linked them to
a couple of my posts. You can’t argue against fact. There’s no room for
interpretation or opinion in the strips that have always been there, yet people
completely ignore.

I’ve said this before,
but if enough people get over the fact that Hetalia is ‘cringey’ – mostly fanon
anyway – and just enjoy it because you enjoy it, I can guarantee you that it
would spark more interest and bring in more people to the fandom. Then, they
can see for themselves how misconstrued their perception of the series was.

Back to hate,
personally, even though I don’t get much, I don’t care when I do. I just don’t
answer. I’m sorry that you feel that way, but my advice would again be trying
to divert your enjoyment of the series away from what other people think of it.
And, if you do decide to post, we’ll be there to support you.
