When
asked for the reason why England wouldn’t let America drink alcohol, Himaruya
gives fans six options to choose from.

1. To conform to the drinking age at America’s house

2. He doesn’t want America to start saying things like “The wine at your house
is disgusting!” so early in the year.

3. America came by car.

4. If America can hold his drink better than an adult like him, he’d be pissed.

5. He’s just being a meanie.

6. It’s unhealthy.

Choose whichever you like!

He has a close relationship with Portugal.

Himaruya’s description of England’s modern fashion style goes as followed:

“He’d probably wear a nice dress shirt on casual days, then a punk
T-shirt when he’s out for fun, and then he’d change into a light mod’s coat.

In the manga I tend to dress him in various dress shirts, don’t I?”

A fan asked if England likes France or Germany better.

This was Himaruya’s response:

“They are old friends so if he should be paired up with someone,
I would say it’s France.

But he wants to hit them both sometimes.”

Your posts are always wonderful!! But about the Vatican City, he truly appears in the hetalia world☆stars series, in the chapter 27. Tough it is still a scratch and in the original Japanese version, he is covered with black fog.

In the version I’ve accessed via Hetascanlations, the Vatican is mentioned, but the character near the line of dialogue isn’t tagged as such.

Unless that was a mistake, I don’t think it was intended to be him.

There’s also the fact that in the context of the strip, we see an unknown American stand in as a spokesperson for his people’s attitude towards Christmas.

image

It would follow, then, that the character above acts more as a mouthpiece for residents of Vatican City, which would make sense given that there’s another clergy member placed right above him (below here

).

Usually when characters are first introduced in canon, they’ll have an official title underneath them. Like this…

I also double-checked on Bamboo Thicket before I made that post to see if there were any illustrations made of the Vatican. I didn’t find any in the tags.

Unless the Japanese print version of World Stars is slightly different regarding illustrations (I wouldn’t know, but I know that strips are often redrawn), the online English version merely translates the chapters that Hima’s posted.

In that case, if you could provide a sourced image that would be helpful.

This is a short but maybe complicated question: What do we know about Portugal? Do you think he’s related to Spain? Thank you, I still love your blog tons💕

Thank you 😊! Here’s a basic rundown of the most relevant strips pertaining to Portugal. I’m not sure if there would be enough on him to do a full characterization post given how recent he is in the canon verse.

Portugal’s introduction can be found in chapters 77-80, and 83-84 of World Stars.
It covers his relationship with Spain, the Netherlands, Macau, Japan, and England. [x]

Ex: He had a close relationship with England, Macau was his underling, he had rocky trading relations with the Netherlands over Macau, and he had good trading relations with Japan. There’s also his hilarious teasing/ somewhat belittling relationship with Spain.

Here’s part of his first character note:

Now for your question:

I know for a fact that he’s not related to Spain. They’re simply listed as neighbors with a similar ancestral influence.

They’re noted to be similar in appearance, but not once are they ever mentioned to be brothers. They even recognize this upon being mistaken for each other.

Given the context, if they were brothers, they would have attributed the similarity of their looks to a blood-relation. They don’t, so it would follow that they’re not related.
