I just saw someone call Hetalia “what, the nazi anime?” and I know well that’s not true, but I totally deflated. Always makes me too scared to post… I know, I’m sensitive. Re-reading through this well-reasoned, thoughtful, blog made me feel a little better though! So, thank you, for what you do. No worries if you can’t respond, but do you ever get any hate or reprimanding here? How do you deal?

How I look at it is that
it’s not my problem if people make blind judgments about the anime/manga
without fact-checking. What matters is that YOU and others in the fandom know
that Hetalia does anything but promote nazism, fascism, and political
corruption.

I’ve gotten a bit of
hate, but you’d be surprised by how much of it was fixed once I linked them to
a couple of my posts. You can’t argue against fact. There’s no room for
interpretation or opinion in the strips that have always been there, yet people
completely ignore.

I’ve said this before,
but if enough people get over the fact that Hetalia is ‘cringey’ – mostly fanon
anyway – and just enjoy it because you enjoy it, I can guarantee you that it
would spark more interest and bring in more people to the fandom. Then, they
can see for themselves how misconstrued their perception of the series was.

Back to hate,
personally, even though I don’t get much, I don’t care when I do. I just don’t
answer. I’m sorry that you feel that way, but my advice would again be trying
to divert your enjoyment of the series away from what other people think of it.
And, if you do decide to post, we’ll be there to support you.

It’s literally impossible to
answer them in a timely fashion given that I soon have summer school (I’m
taking courses ahead of time), work, volunteering, working out, writing fics,
researching, writing posts, doing the security clearance for my student
placement, and renovating/ cleaning my new home. 

I really do appreciate how
engaging you guys have all been, though! It makes me feel bad, but I can’t
always answer asks right after I post something. I queue most of my posts.

I know it may be frightening
for some people, but I’d rather that you comment on a specific post rather than
sending in an anonymous ask if you need something clarified/ have a rebuttal.
Not only will it guarantee you a swifter answer (I message the person and
provide links too), but it helps keep the discussion of the topic in one
place. 

Anyways, I’ll have time to do
more Q and As soon!!

Side note: Y’all need to stop apologizing for
asking me something. I’m very grateful, and if anything, I should be thanking
you. 

Anon 3: Thank you ❤ ! It depends what we’re talking
about. Completing the post takes about three hours. Half of the time is spent
writing and editing the post, the other half is spent compiling all the panels
and putting the post together.

On the other hand, some
prompts take me months due to the heavy volume of requests, whereas some can
literally take me a day. If I’ve already memorized the locations of all the
relevant strips, then I don’t have to look through my notes, go digging for
evidence, and, of course, review the material again. 

I’m always working on several
posts at once and draft outlines. That’s why I ask that people send in the
requests even if it may take me a while to get to them. As I’m searching for
other strips, I’ll often come across relevant material and mark it down ahead
of time 🙂

as someone who prefers the manga over the anime, what is your opinion on a potential seventh season? ((probably called hetalia: world stars, out of irony, haha)) i know popularity isn’t the key to a successful or supportive fandom, but since the fandom’s activity has declined dramatically over the last years, i’m curious to ask one of the more recent fanblogs… love your content btw! <333 (and sorry for the long ask)

I don’t know, I have very mixed feelings about a potential seventh
season. On one hand, I recognize that a new season will help boost the morale of
creators in the fandom.

On the other hand, like you mentioned, popularity isn’t key.
The biggest problem is our reputation as both a fanbase and from the series in its
earliest depictions. What doesn’t help is the absolutely atrocious dubbed lines that Funimation has pulled
off, leading to an even worse reputation for Hetalia.

If there were to be a seventh season, there would be many
things that if I could, I would change in a heartbeat.

1) Better
strip selection. The strips selected for animation are unrepresentative of
the series and only portray the stock qualities of the characters. This, unfortunately, leads to misconceptions where fans take the anime as canon fact. Even
the oldest of strips have moments of profundity.

Instead, what I would like to see is the more serious and
complicated matters depicted in the anime. But, for that to happen…

2) The
episodes need to be longer. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes; I don’t care. You
can hardly tackle any content and do a good job of it in a 3-4 minute timespan. Most of the episodes are so jumbled, rushed, and incoherent that it
has little to no impact.

Instead of silly comic gags all the time, balance it with
the serious – don’t negate the latter altogether. There’s a reason why people
don’t take Hetalia seriously. They base their opinion on the anime and not the
manga.  

3) Stop
marketing Hetalia as something only for kids. Rebrand!
Rebrand! Rebrand! Taking the above examples together, I truly do believe
that if the Hetalia anime switched gears and changed their target audience, it
would bring in a lot more people.

Just to give an example, the
nations have been marketed as “Global buddies!!!!”

Much of Hima’s hard work and creative genius is ignored due
to fans being put-off by the anime. The Hetalia anime, if done right, could be very
impactful in whole, as opposed to having occasional moments that addressed deeper
subject matter.

Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you would be continuing your stories? They’re among some of the best in the fandom!

You’re not bothering me! I’m really sorry that I’ve been
absent on fanfiction. While a lot of this has to do with being so active on
tumblr, I’ve dealt with some really tough and heartbreaking personal things. It
was impossible to write for more than two hours because my mind was all over
the place.

All that really matters is that I’m out of the abusive
environment that I was in. I’ve taken these past three weeks to recharge and I’m
ready to start uploading again. I plan to write a warm-up Spamano one-shot
tomorrow. After that, you can expect to see more updates in the future. Thank
you so much for your interest 😀

Um, uh, I’ll just get the weird out of the way. I think I’ve talked about my
paranormal experiences before, eh? I’ve only just found out that mediums run in
the family.

I attract ghosts, see shadows, and can sometimes hear real
voices if I’m tired enough. If not, I often get ringing in my ears, can sense
spirits in rooms, and feel cold spots. I’ve had objects thrown at me too (not
fun when it’s in the middle of the night in the dark, yikes).

I freak people out a lot because I drain electronics/
technological appliances wherever I go – I’ve heard that this has to do with
the ghosts following me.

My friends complain because as soon as I go into
a study room, the Wifi stops working and their phones lose a lot of their
battery life. The most extreme case is that I’ve drained car batteries before
just by sleeping over at someone’s house.

You can think that I’m crazy all that you want, but a
recent photo that I shared here on this blog has two orbs in it…
