PruCan isn’t technically crack. They’ve interacted before, and what I’m
about to show you is what I believe started the whole ship. Yes, there’s a
place called New Prussia in Ontario, Canada, but what I’m looking for is canon information.

You have to do a lot of digging, back into the prehistoric days of the
fandom. Nevertheless, the 2009 April Fools’ Event is likely where the ship
gained traction. Don’t get me wrong either. Nothing in here is romantic, but I can still nevertheless understand the reasoning behind the formation of the ship.

In this event, we get to explore some posts on Prussia’s blog.

Canada gives Prussia pancakes for free.

Prussia states his love for them, and even goes so far as to grant
Canada with an “Ore-sama” honor award. Ore-sama is basically an arrogant way of
saying “me” in Japanese.

Since Prussia thinks he’s “awesome,” referring to Canada as another
version of himself is quite an honor, especially given how narcissistic Prussia
can be. Cute, right?

Any juicy or angsty RusAme hints in the comic that I can use? I just joined the fandom, and would like to be as accurate as possible. Thank you!

If you’re asking about hints, that requires a lot more time and thought. However, there are some similarities between them that I can briefly go over. In my opinion, it makes for excellent shipping material.

For starters, they’re both incredibly insecure individuals. They want to make friends but have trouble doing so, and don’t always recognize that what they’re doing is wrong.

Ex: America being nosy and poking into everyone’s business, and Russia’s cruel treatment of other nations under his rule.

Personally, what I would use as a good focal point for conflict is the fact that they both think everyone hates them:

Do you think FrUk is possible in canon?

Yup! There’s a few hints here and there that I’ve got marked down in my notes. It’s not just FrUK either. Both France and England are hinted at sharing romantic feelings for other nations. They’re very subtle though, so I wouldn’t jump the gun on them.

Anyways, the most obvious hint of FrUk for me is when France proposes to England by asking him to merge their countries; this being a result of the Suez Canal Crisis.

I know the picture’s resolution isn’t great (it’s the best I could do), but in the far left of the second panel, England says:

“I don’t want to get married for this lame reason.”

I don’t know about you, but if I was vehemently opposed to marrying someone, I wouldn’t need a reason to reject them other than simply not liking them. It doesn’t seem like England is completely against the idea of marrying France. I don’t find this too hard to believe, as we’ve already seen male countries marry each other before.

It’s definitely possible, I’m not ruling it out. I’m just not so sure if we’ll ever be blessed with an obvious enough confirmation.
