I got a challenge for you, inspired by the buzzfeed challenge. Don’t worry, it’s not another one of those. How about a good argument against the HRE is Germany theory? (Sorry if this sounds rude btw)

It doesn’t sound rude!

New Challenge:

Okay,
so here’s the thing. As someone who has read the manga countless times and has picked
up on all the hints, foreshadowing, parallels, and conjoining logics, I don’t and
presently cannot see that as a possibility. I haven’t seen anyone use good
concrete evidence to prove against the theory. And then there’s those who don’t
believe the theory just because everyone else believes it…

So,
tell you what: you guys put forward your evidence as to why you don’t think
Germany is Holy Rome and I’ll see if I can counter it. This way, it tests the
strength of my theory. This post here outlines a lot of my main counters to the
most common arguments, so please read it over first [x].

Also
note that you have to back up your points with evidence from the manga. It can’t
just be based on what you ‘think.’ What you think has to be supported with
proof and examples. Show me how you
reached your conclusions ^^

Please submit it in ask form!

@justanotheraccountpassingby Thank you so much 😀 Uh idk dude. I just read and write a lot. The more you write, the better you get. It’s as simple as that.

Reading helps more with your comprehension and analytical skills. You tend to find more connections if you read a source multiple times. Your analytical skills also improve the more you summarize and paraphrase material for school essays and the like.

As for critical thinking (at least for what I do in this blog), that would involve learning how to become an active vs a passive reader. When I read stuff, I always jot down notes, write memos to myself, and mark out short blurbs outlining key concepts/ themes. It makes it easier to break things down later when you have to analyze it. The same would apply to any other media/ source of information tbh.

Hope that helped!

Hey! So I’ve already bookmarked the posts from your directory but I was wondering if you could provide me with a list of all the strips that debunk claims that Hetalia is fascist (etc.) My friend refuses to read your posts, so a list would be really nice :)

Well, don’t force them lol.

I just wish people would take the time to read the actual source material before making such inaccurate assumptions. Of course, this doesn’t mean that Hetalia doesn’t have its fair share of legitimate controversies, though.

There’s more evidence in previous posts I made, but these are core strips I always use.

Why Hetalia doesn’t promote fascism:

  • The Austrian Anschluss (Non-linear)
  • Main Storyline Chapter 4 (Original Webcomic)
  • Volume 1, Axis Powers pt. 1

Why Hetalia doesn’t promote imperialism:

  • France and the Olympia Romance (Non-linear)
  • The story about the early days of China and Japan (Non-linear)

Why Hetalia isn’t racist:

  • Fly, Canada-San Fly! (Non-linear)

Why Hetalia Doesn’t Promote War:

  • Volume 1, Axis Powers pt. 1
  • We’re Shipwrecked Too (non-linear)
  • Volume 1, 🙂 in the world
  • World Stars Chapter 120 & 129
  • Volume 3, United States of Hetalia
  • Volume 3, A Battlefield’s Kickoff

Did you send this to multiple blogs? I already saw this in my dash.

I get what you’re saying, I really do. But I also think that
you’ve set yourself up for disappointment. The expectations you’ve set up for
Hetalia were never meant to be met in the first place. It’s one thing if
Hetalia was based on a premise of historical and cultural accuracy, but it isn’t.
It’s based on stereotypes and poking fun at their inaccuracies.

By definition, stereotypes are inaccurate and exaggerated,
even though there may be partial truths behind them.

I’ve said this before, but to come to Hetalia expecting historical
accuracy is like going to McDonald’s and expecting a three-course meal. You can’t really get irritated for not finding something in a place where it was never meant to
be found.

Obviously, this shouldn’t be taken as a blanket statement defending Hetalia in its entirety. It’s had its fair share of faults and legitimate controversies.

Anyways, I’ve done more in-depth posts on this if you’d
like to give them a read-through!
